Deacon Don is a Permanent Deacon and Pastoral Associate for St. Patrick Parish. Deacon Don and his wife, Beverly, began working for the State of Michigan in 2000 and then decided to move to the Diocese of Grand Rapids with the encouragement of their friend, Bishop Kevin Britt, who became the Ordinary or Diocesan Bishop of Grand Rapids on Beverly’s birthday. Both Deacon and his wife grew up in Hamtramck, Michigan and have also lived in Warren, Michigan and Windsor Ontario Canada, eh?

Deacon Don and Beverly have been married for 26 years.  They lived most of their married life, 17 years in their hometown, Hamtramck, MI.  They moved to Portland in 2003.  They have a cat named “Kasia”  (“purity” in Polish.)

Deacon’s favorite sports teams are the Pistons and Red Wings.  He can’t choose between MSU and U of M, so GO NAVY!  For hobbies, he enjoys studying history and military strategy and tactics, Greece, Rome, Medieval Europe, especially Poland, the American Civil War and WWII.

Deacon loves to work at St. Patrick Parish because, “Each day brings new opportunities for meeting people.  I like the people I work with and being able to preach once in a while.”

Deacon Don’s favorite Bible verse: John 15:11-17

“These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full. This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you…”
